Journal Archive

Welcome to the section formerly known as "thoughts and ramblings." I'm a long-time journaler (details about that are below), so the collection also contains rants, raves, tragedy, comedy, highs, lows, and everything in between. To save time, I call this autobiography the journal archive.

To read the entries, select a date range from the list, or start with the first one and click [Next Entries] to read through all of them. Or, you can choose from the list of entries by subject line.

Oh, and if I know you, please note the Note below, in case you see your name mentioned here.

About This Archive

Since the year 2000, I've journaled at several different places - usually at more than one in any given time frame. When the main journal crashed a few years ago, I decided to combine the backups with the entries from my other journals and archive them here. The current blog entries are posted here as well, as a backup.

These are the various journals:

ºº - the "at work" journal - The earliest "entries" were just me typing my thoughts in a Microsoft Word document. I was at work, things were very slow, and I had plenty of time to be alone with my thoughts. Some words are capitalized because Word would underline them as being spelled incorrectly if I wrote them normally.

º¹ - "chez-geo" - my first "personal" site, which was at Geocities

º² - "eclectic" - my new "personal" site (you are here ;)

º³ - "chez-dx" - the main diary-x journal

¹º - "aliasnews" - the "secret" diary-x journal

¹¹ - "the MR board" - I started writing at my Moulin Rouge message board to try to keep some activity there. However, I finally had so many sites to maintain that I stopped posting, and the MR board was shut down by its host in 2005 because of inactivity.

¹² - "blogeasy" - my "secret" journal at blogeasy.com

"the neloo forums" and wordpress - current blog

Note that I had multiple blogs (at the same time) from early 2001 through late 2005. From 2006 until the present, I've primarily had one blog, along with multiple backups.

Why did I have so many journals? First, I needed a place to ramble, and weblogs weren't yet commonplace. Then I started websites that needed content, but I didn't want every visitor to read my most personal ramblings, so I kept some sites secret. Then I found diary-x and really liked it. I finally stopped writing at some places because I lost interest, I lacked the time, or the site's host shut down.

Why am I explaining all of this? Just in case anyone wonders why the same post appears more than once, why certain posts don't have titles, etc. Basically, I'm trying to keep it all in context.

Note: Whenever I post something - at any of my sites - I keep in mind that anybody could see it. Therefore, even if I'm griping, I don't post anything that I wouldn't want someone to read. So, to the people that I know (in Real Life and on-line), I hope nothing that I've written here hurts your feelings. Sometimes, I just need to vent - and then I get over it.

Who's Who/Definitions

Some of the early pages have a Who's Who, with a brief explanation of people that I mention. In the later entries, I've tried to explain who people are - or at least link to an explanation - as I write about them.

Other terms that I often use are:

I'm also prone to using emoticons or adding "actions" into my entries.
