She's real.

[   Journal   ]

Since the year 2000, I've journaled at several different places - usually at more than one in any given time frame. After my main one crashed in early 2006, I decided to combine the backups with the entries from my other journals and post them here. More details are at the bottom of this page.

To read the entries, select a date range from the list below, or start with the first one and click [Next Entries] to read through all of them.

Note: Whenever I post something - at any of my sites - I keep in mind that anybody could see it. Therefore, even if I'm griping, I don't post anything that I wouldn't want someone to read. So, to the people that I know, I hope nothing that I've written here hurts your feelings. Sometimes, I just need to vent - and then I get over it.

[   About this Journal   ]

* As mentioned above, I've had several journals. As I combined the entries here, I noted which source the entry came from:

  • the "at work" journal - a Word document that I rambled in. Some details are below.
  • "chez-geo" - my first "personal" site, which was at Geocities
  • "eclectic" - my new "personal" site (you are here ;)
  • "chez-dx" - my main diary-x journal
  • "aliasnews" - my "secret" diary-x journal
  • the MR board - my Moulin Rouge message board. Again, details are below.
  • "blogeasy" - my "secret" journal at blogeasy.com

* Why did I have so many journals? First, I needed a place to ramble, and weblogs weren't yet commonplace. Then I started websites that needed content, but I didn't want every visitor to read my most personal ramblings, so I kept some sites secret. Then I found diary-x and really liked it. I finally stopped writing at some places because I lost interest, I lacked the time, or the site's host shut down.

* The earliest "entries" were just me typing my thoughts in a Microsoft Word document. (I was at work, things were very slow, and I had plenty of time to be alone with my thoughts.) Some words are capitalized because Word would underline them as being spelled incorrectly if I wrote them normally. Later I learned that this problem can be solved by adding the word to Word's dictionary.

* Some of the early pages have a Who's Who, with a brief explanation of people that I mention. In the later entries, I tried to explain who people were - or at least link to an explanation - as I wrote about them.

* I started writing at the Moulin Rouge board to try to keep some activity and generate some interest at the board. However, I became so busy - and had so many sites to maintain - that I stopped posting, and the MR board was shut down by its host in 2005 because of inactivity.

* When combining the entries to post here (which I refer to as The Rebuild), I noticed quite a few errors in spelling and such, but I didn't correct them. They amuse me. ;)

* I added a commenting system to the main journal in 2003, but it wasn't used much. I didn't re-add the comment links in The Rebuild.

* The forum/current journal entries are posted here as well, as a backup.
