The MacGyver F.A.Q.
(last updated 08 February 1995)
Welcome to the MacGyver FAQ, a collection of answers to Frequently Asked Questions about the television show that ran on ABC-TV from September 1985 to May 1992, as well as the two made-for-TV movies. Here you will find episode listings, character descriptions and biographies, and even "MacGyverisms" -- those ingenious things the title character does in each episode.
Full acknowledgments can be found at the end of Part 1.
This FAQ is divided into four parts:
- Part 1 contains character and actor biographies, frequently asked questions about "MacGyver," and other sources of information.
- Part 2 and Part 3 are the episode guide, which includes detailed production information and even Nielsen ratings for each episode.(***Part 2 contains the first three seasons, Part 3 contains seasons four through seven as well as the two movies.)
- Part 4 is the list of MacGyverisms for each episode. A "MacGyverism" is typically something clever that MacGyver does which other action heroes wouldn't normally think of doing. This may include such things as using household cleaners to make a smokescreen or building an ultralight plane from materials at a construction site. The term "MacGyverism" was coined in a second-season episode. (***WARNING: The MacGyverisms List contains many spoilers which would reveal important plot points for new viewers. So if you don't want to spoil the ending for yourself or anyone else, don't read Part 4. You've been warned.)
